Get The Hell Out!

I just graduated from the university officially last week and I found myself reflecting on how the past four years have been. The University isn’t just about academic knowledge but I think it’s also about discovering and creating oneself and learning about life in different perspectives. One of the things I thought about is friendship. I’m not one to have a ton of friends but It was much easier in secondary school. In the university, I got involved in different relationships. Some were great, some not too great. Some were just plain toxic and not needed. I literally found myself sinking in a couple of bad relationships unknowingly and losing my identity. Thankfully, I snapped out of it. I’ve literally checked Google.com on how to get rid of a toxic relationship because sometimes even when you want to get out, the other person is trapping you because, well, you are their precious little, emotional (hopefully, not physical) punching bag. Well, people, if you are in a relationship that’s just plain weird and you feel like it’s sucking the life out of you, get out! Ask yourself if:

– you happy with this friend and the friendship.
– you feel belittled, used or abused.
– the friendship feels like hard, unproductive work.
-you can’t be yourself around this friend.
– your friend apologises about something wrong and then keeps doing the same thing.
– your friend betrayed your
confidences.
– you are scared to grow or change.
– it feels like competition rather
than a balanced and caring friendship?

If you answered yes to any of the questions, well honey, it is time to get the hell OUT!
If the friendship can’t be fixed, leave. You’d feel better in the long run. πŸ™‚ Get out and be with other people instead of being tempted to be with them.
The only thing a toxic, awful relationship would do to you is rid you of your peace of mind, your self confidence, self esteem and happiness.
If you have ever been in any such relationship, it is not a total loss because now you know what a good relationship ISN’T made of. Find out what a good friendship should be like and what a good friend is and be that friend. Be positive and you would attract positivity. πŸ˜€

Here’s to great friends and happy times. Until next time, Ciao Lavs!!

Xoxo.
